North To Alaska
США
Добавлен 16 май 2023
We traveled 5,000 miles from Pennsylvania in late 2022 to find our perfect piece of Alaska. Follow us on our journey of living a more self-sufficient and off-grid lifestyle as we embrace the Alaskan wilderness in Alaska's playground - the Kenai Peninsula.
Breakdowns, Dirt Grading, & High Tunnel Set-Up | Is Gardening in Alaska Worth It?
After clearing the area for our high tunnels, we immediately got to work on getting the ground level and smooth. We started off with a hydraulic cylinder leak, and then we were back out there working with the skid steer. Once the area was graded, we set up the high tunnels. Luckily, we have had several days of gorgeous weather to get our plants sometime to adapt to being in the ground outside...in the high tunnel, of course!

Striking Alaskan Liquid Gold | Starting Our Summer Garden
Просмотров 67 тыс.21 день назад
We can pump water directly to our spring and right into our Rv! That's right! We found a temporary solution for holding water down at our spring and pumping water up the hill into our main cistern. From there we pump it into our RV. This temporary solution will hold us off through the summer until we can get a more permanent solution in place. We also prep our garden for planting and get some v...

We Bought an Abandoned Alaskan Cabin | Full Tour

When we purchased our piece of Alaska, we ended up buying a homestead that had been abandoned for nearly 20 years. We had a ton of cleaning up to do when we arrived at the property, both inside and out. After removing everything from inside the cabin and fixing part of the roof and floor, we have a great place to use as storage and a workspace until we can build something of our own. While it i...
Alaskan Snow Day | Snow Blower Dilemma and Breakdowns

We have received back-to-back snow storms, so snow removal seems to be an every other day task. With fresh snow, we decided to test our snowblowers to see which one works best! The cold brings new challenges as nothing wants to work. Even repairs become harder! We make needed repairs to a blown auxiliary hydraulic line on our equipment in freezing temps to prepare for the next storm! Thank you ...

Yeah…I have no advice. The foam looks fun
And you have good trees on your land that you can mill up great job guys
OK a kiwi here this maybe a dumb question why a gun ,thinking so something doesnt eat you ? here in NZ only have things that eat your lunch or wreck/steal your stuff (kea weka kara) and the odd person
I was wondering if you could tell me where in PA did you move from? I am originally from Oil City.
You are both young, respect your lungs, wear masks when using dry cement and especially when spray painting.
I like watching videos where people interact with their dogs. That’s probably the funnest thing he’ll ever get to do. I’ve never tried to take my dog a ride in my skid loader, but she does ride on the zero turn lawnmower. 😅
I live in NW Pennsylvania Cleaning up up a house my new neighbor called the police about my dumpster instead of being a man and ask I'm paying sewage on 2 empty properties School tax is one of the highest in the state with a population about 12000
Your videos are brilliantly produced. Everything flows together so naturally and effortlessly. I know it is a lot of hard work for you to make them that way. Thank you. Very well done.
Marvelous work! That little mixer worked like a charm, it seemed! Next to impossible to get a large concrete truck in - All it would do, IF you could get one there, is get stuck and create a great mud pool!! More manual labour this way, but preventing a host of other problems! Keep up the good work. Slow and steacy wins the race!
Wow, you two have done lots of work on your homestead. I’m waiting for you to work on your cabin.
Why is she carrying the backpack?
Your 🐕 dog is living he best life omg

When is the next video, the more videos that are made increases one's subscribers meaning that they anticipate the next video......
Add a tarp between your greenhouses and you have a great place for storage!
Really enjoyed your video. I love Alaska
Old classic machines means easy to fix and maintain. A+ guys!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
I know you are a person who loves nature very much from your crops. You are a person who knows how to protect the environment. I really love and appreciate what you are doing. Maybe somehow, we will be able to Working together, I wish you good health and keep the qualities you have, beautiful girl
It's amazing that the bear is a natural material. I really love the wooden material from your hands. It created a beautiful house. Photos. I can stay by your side and work with you. Experience the work you are doing. Wishing you good health and success.❤❤❤❤
You guys are fantastic luv the show !
Curiosity: Why not put the insulation down prior to the subfloor?
You two are amazing. Keep doing what you’re doing. Stay safe and warm
Women, move away from the hole, you don't want to loose the fish
He needs a workshop in that old cabin
Anyone knows what caliber is his Glock? I would think he want to carry something that would be effective against not only 2 feet predators but also the 4 feet ones, like bears and mountain lions, so maybe 10mm?
E❤❤xcellent😮
Love your dog :). Wow this drill bit its game changer!!
I. I highly recommend you brace the center pipe using 3 " round poles the whole length and support it with 3" dia. Poles I worked in a nursery for years. Their high tunnels are all supported this way. Keep them from collapsing on heavy snow fall. Your high tunnels are small dia. not very strong. Check out Simply Living Alaska. They can help you a lot on gardening in high tunnels. Good luck
Ok what’s Chagga?
Ok what’s Chagga?

Chugga Grows on pine trees, Cedar trees. It's kinda like a mushroom mold, but you break it up and you put it in hot water and it makes tea
I got a good chuckle watching the skid steer turn your compost as I looked out at my 4’x4’ urban compost pile that I turn with a shovel. 😀 Whatever the size pile, composting is a beautiful thing! And just a thought to your cost analysis- when comparing organically (home) grown food vs. buying commercial: the mineral and vitamin density in organic food can be up to 6 times that of commercial, depending on the food, not to mention the taste. I have bought and grown organic from the 1990’s to present day. Although it has always been more costly, the kids got the equivalent of eating 4 commercial springs of broccoli, by eating only one. They learned vegetables have flavor and you don’t need cheese slathered over them to make them palatable. I think there are analysis charts available to compare organic vs. inorganically grown food so when you do your cost analysis maybe that can be included for looking at the veggies you are growing? Enjoy your channel thank you for the content and I look forward to your next video!
I'm in Arkansas and we will have an excess of heat next week. I'd share some of it with you. Sharing even the degrees OVER 100 would help us BOTH!
You seem to be masking good progress. That is very nice for us to observe> I wish you much success in establishing your property for your needs and interests!
BUT- physical labor always pays off in the end. Your garden will nourish y’all for years. Awesome work.
Just so you know those hoops need a lap 20x bar diameter. Or they need hooks.
Dogs always love going for rides, you’re making excellent progress my friends!
